Direct Configuration Downloads

When running a new product for the first time, users typically download the default curated configuration without any custom modifications. This constitutes the majority of product downloads.

While Skycapp’s platform configuration management is a powerful feature, needing to add a product configuration to a platform only to accept the default settings is unnecessary. To streamline the process, we’ve added a new “Direct Configuration Download” feature that allows for downloading of default product configurations without needing to define your target runtime platform. This removes a lot of clicks, especially for users wanting to try different configurations of a product without getting into configuration details.

Parent Product Curation

The web UI’s management of product relationships has been always been limited to that of a product’s bundled (“child”) relationships. Now, curators may also view and manage a product’s parents: things in which the product has been bundled. This makes it easy to:

  • See how a product is being bundled across the catalog.
  • Assess the impact of a product configuration change to other products using that configuration.
  • Update parent configuration overrides without having to navigate the parent product to make the changes.
  • Add a new product build and configuration, then immediately update the references from parent products.

[Experimental] Weighted Random Catalog Ordering

We’ve added two new curation fields: “Search Weight” and “Curation Weight”. Both are 1-10 integer values, each defaulting to 1, that allows you to artificially boost the placement within the catalog when viewed in weighted featured mode. Curation Weight affects search result placement less than Search Weight.

Note that the effects of weights are relative across the catalog. If you weight everything from 8-10, for example, you’ll see a less dramatic impact than using the entire 1-10 range for each field. Also note that there is a degree of randomness that will still naturally result in highly-weighted products sometimes placed lower than expected, and vice versa. The algorithms and likely to be refined in the future.

Product Management Report Counts

The product management report has been changed to show description and instructions characters length, instead of the full text. Build and screenshot counts have also been added.
