May 21st, 2024. Dallas, Texas, USA.
At the May, 2024 Connectathon in Dallas, Texas, Health Level Seven (HL7) officially launched production availability of HL7 Foundry: a platform designed to advance the discovery, testing, and implementation of HL7 FHIR® (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources).
Through phased iterations, Foundry “..will become the go-to resource for finding and experimenting with reference implementations…around the world to engage with FHIR standards in a practical and scalable way. This will accelerate innovation, enhance interoperability, and ultimately improve healthcare outcomes globally.”
HL7 Foundry is powered by the Skycapp platform running within the internal infrastructure of HL7 Implementation Division. Meeting Foundry’s May Connectathon launch target required close collaboration with HL7 accelerator programs including DaVinci and FAST (FHIR at Scale Taskforce), as well as support from Logica Health. The next phase will involve meeting targets for FHIR DevDays in June, HL7 Connectathon in September, and to-be-scheduled Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Connectathon expected to be held late summer or fall. In additional to new products being added to the catalog, Skycapp’s distribution features will be incrementally enabled as FHIR developers make changes to meet packaging and distribution requirements.
HL7 Foundry is now publicly available at https://foundry.hl7.org. Feedback and suggestions may be made through the feedback system on the website.
